Let’s make it real!

We are currently working with Adbusters to produce this flag. We estimate 2 or 3 months until it’d be ready for flying. If you are interested to get one, please contact me: marc@marcarroyo.com We will create a World Wide map to know all the locations where “Marc’s Flag” will be flying, and also a World Wide photo gallery. Let’s make it real!

Marc’s Flag: Featured Comments

At the end of the Competition Marc’s Flag had more than 300 comments. But you can still comment the Flag. It was very interesting to have so many feedback. There are all sorts of comments and that’s the main point of my proposal and “The One Flag Competition”: Prove that design has a real role to play in our society and in the fate of our world.

This is great! Sky is one thing every earthling shares in one way or another.

Simple and effective concept, way to go!!!

By far the best flag! Many of the other designs were beautiful and aesthetically pleasing, but unlike all the others, this one erases the past meaning of a flag and any negatives associated with it and proclaims that we are all of this earth, under the same sky. Bravo!!!

I’ve grown to love clouds more and more; a constant reminder of our true condition as humans: impermanence. beauty. change. Bravo!

— corey fischer

So this is a flag of clouds that consists of a flag of clouds? Is this some kind of vexillographers’s joke? Exceedingly poor design in my opinion.

— Jon Miller

Beautiful, but this is not a flag. A flag is:
- something that can be made out of rag and a can of paints on a barricade and be easily seen as a rallying point.
- carries a simple explanation of the meaning of all of its components, so that it can refer to a set of shared values.

I like it the best, specially its non-antropocentrical focus (some others are too much pointing on human features as to symbolize what we call earth, from my point of view). It’s the one for me.

Molt bé Marc!
Good job, Marc!

Sentiment d’immensitat i llibertat. El cel no es de ningú i és de tots.

Feeling of inmensity and freedom. Anyone is the owner of the sky but all of us are the owners.

I submitted Marc’s Flag, my personal proposal of global citizenship flag. It was selected in the final 32. I was looking forward to have feedback and all comments were welcome.

The One Flag Design Competition

During 2008 the magazine and culture global network Adbusters organized: “The One Flag Design Competition”.

adbusters

“We invite you to create a flag – free from language and well-worn clichés – that embodies the idea of global citizenship. A symbol that triggers pride and cohesion, whether worn on a backpack, displayed on a door, or flown on a flagpole. A symbol for anyone to declare membership in a growing and vital human cooperative. We invite you to prove that design has a real role to play in the fate of our world.

Design submissions will be critiqued by a panel of prominent design professionals, then featured in Adbusters and supporting design publications. The winning flag will go into production, ready for flying by the patriotic citizens of Earth.”
